Did you know that your reality is shaped by your constant beliefs, thoughts, actions and expectations?

It is our reality that reflects our identity which is an expression of the stories we tell ourselves. As a baby up until 7 years of age is when we are most impressionable. This is when we are being programmed by those around us and the environment we live in.

Beliefs are powerful as a belief is a thought. When thoughts are repeated time and time again, your subconscious minds accepts it as truth. Our conscious mind orders our subconscious mind and our subconscious executes the order. Our subconscious is where all of our beliefs, experiences, memories and skills live. It thrives on imagery and your imagination, which is why visualisation is so powerful.

The world’s most successful people have a success ritual that they adhere to day in and day out. From Oprah, Tony Robbins, Tim Ferris to Barrack Obama. Successful people adopt morning rituals due to their transformative nature. Early mornings set the tone for your day and I believe it is the best time of the day. No alarm required as I bounce out of bed eager to start another day.

I want to share with you my 3M Formula which you can use to start your day in a positive way which gives you clarity, boosts your energy and motivation leading to improved decision-making.

1. Meditate

I started meditation as a result of having anxiety when I was younger. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I choose to learn transcendental meditation. Cameron Diaz and Sir Paul McCartney are advocates of this meditation practice.

When you learn transcendental meditation, you work with a certified teacher one-on-one. In your first session, you are given a unique meditation word solely for you. You repeat the word continuously when meditating and by doing so it helps to put you in a relaxed state and helps to quieten the word.

The benefits of transcendental meditation are profound and is known to improve brain function, increase levels of resilience, boost your energy, improve your decision making skills and create peace and wellbeing,

As Sir Paul McCartney attests: “Transcendental Meditation gives me an island of calm in the midst of so much turbulence”.

2. Move

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that in 2017- 2018:

  • 67.0% of Australian adults were overweight / obese which equates to 12.5 million people.
  • 46% of Australian youth aged 18-24 years, were overweight or obese (An increase from 38.9%  in 2014-15)

Too many people are living sendentary lives, sitting down all day every day leaving you feeling unenthusiastic and lethargic. Resulting in overeating and/or undesirable nutrition choices. Combine that with a lack of water, overloading the body with tea and coffee and staring at a screen all day is sure to be a recipe for your health eventually leading to serious health issues. Thank goodness for standing desks!

For as long as I can recall I have exercised from 3-6 days per week, it is a habit that is truly ingrained and I do not feel right if I miss the gym for longer than a day. Having high energy levels, exercise gives me a boost of endorphins, helps me stay on track with my nutrition, improves my quality of sleep and generally feel amazing and energised.

To quote from Harvard Medical School: “Regular aerobic exercise will bring remarkable changes to your body, your metabolism, your heart, and your spirits. It has a unique capacity to exhilarate and relax, to provide stimulation and calm, to counter depression and dissipate stress”.

3. Make

The Make in the 3M Formula means make a healthy breakfast as it gives you fuel to start your day and kick starts your metabolism into gear. Breakfast is one of my favourite meals of the day and can range from poached eggs and avocado, cereal with high-protein yoghurt and blueberries or a fruit smoothie.

If you skip breakfast or eat later there is an increased likelihood that you will be ravenous and choose banana bread or a muffin instead of poached eggs with avocado. Even if you are not a morning person and can’t eat much first thing, you can have a piece of fruit, a muesli bar or whip up a smoothie with fresh fruit.

Nutrition Australia states the many benefits of eating breakfast including:  boosting your energy levels and metabolism, stabilises your blood sugar levels and is found to improve your memory and concentration levels.

I do hope that this article inspires and encourages you to follow the simple practice of the world’s most successful people by implementing your own version of a daily success ritual. Drop me a line as I would love to hear your success story.
